Ensuring access to over-the-counter birth control for American Indian and Alaska Native communities

Since 2015, Free the Pill has partnered with Native leaders and organizations to identify barriers to contraceptive access in American Indian and Alaska Native communities and advocate for equitable access to over-the-counter (OTC) birth control at Indian Health Service (IHS) facilities and 638 Clinics. With Opill—the first-ever OTC daily birth control pill—now available nationwide, ensuring OTC contraceptives are accessible to American Indian and Alaska Native communities is essential.
