Every year on May 9, Free the Pill celebrates #FreeThePillDay to commemorate the anniversary of the US FDA's original approval of the first birth control pill way back in 1960. Now, May 9th also commemorates the anniversary of the FDA advisory committee hearing on Opill, which was approved in 2023 as the first-ever over-the-counter daily birth control pill available in the United States!
