Centering the voices of transgender, nonbinary, gender expansive, and BIPOC communities

This event has passed. Watch the recording

The US Food and Drug Administration is currently reviewing the first-ever application for an over-the-counter (OTC) birth control pill, a progestin-only product called Opill. If approved, this would be the first OTC birth control pill in the United States and could greatly expand access to contraceptive care by removing the medically unnecessary prescription requirement. However, to advance health equity and reproductive justice, we must center the leadership, voices, and perspectives of communities that have, for too long, faced barriers due to systemic racism and other forms of oppression.

Research, policy, and advocacy efforts that center the contraceptive needs, interests, and desires of Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC) communities, LGBTQ+ folks, young people, and people working to make ends meet, are critical to ensuring that future OTC birth control pills are equitably accessible to all.

Join Free the Pill for a webinar highlighting the most recent research on interest among transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive folks as well as interest among BIPOC communities in the United States. Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with the audience.
